e-Mentoring Pastors

Introduction to our services

by Rev. John H. Stoll, Th.M., Ph.D.

The e-Mentoring program has been designed to be a professional Christian agency as a Biblical “Paraclete” (i.e. helper) to Pastors, realizing that as humans they have needs to be met, that they are unable to share with anyone, given the nature of their responsibilities and the need for confidentiality. In other words, we are prepared to be the confidant, as being the “Pastor-to-the-Pastor”.

Our independent organization is composed of a number of Mentors, all who are conservative, Bible believing ordained Ministers of the Gospel, believing the Lordship of Jesus Christ and the full inspiration of Scripture. All have been Pastors and have had professional counselor training.  Most of them have earned doctorates and have been professors in college/seminary.

Our place is not to tell the Pastor what he must do, but to listen, encourage, understand, make suggestions, provide feedback, and pray with and for him.  This interchange between Pastor and Mentor provides for the Pastor a “sounding board” that helps him in the areas of being able to care for his own needs, for that of his family, as well as meeting the felt needs of his people.

Our service is conducted in strict confidentiality so the Pastor can be assured that what he opens up to the Mentor will be held in strict confidence.

Our program will be introduced to the Board members of the individual Church.  We will ask each Board to consider making our services available to their Pastor as part of the initial financial package. There are reasons for doing this. Most Pastors probably would not avail themselves of the opportunity, since they would feel they could not afford it, even though they universally may need it. Second, if the Church will provide it for their Pastor, then the “ownership” of our services will come back to the Church, in the form of a less stressful Pastor, who is able to share his most intimate and urgent needs with a fellow professional, who has been able to pray with him, and counsel him.

If the church will endeavor to present this service to its pastor, as an asset that the Pastor can use as he sees fit; he will not be looked upon as if he is unable to shepherd the Church or unable to handle himself.

Our experience showed that this provision for any Pastor would more than pay for itself, in alleviating conflicts between Pastor and people.  The conflicts may otherwise magnify themselves resulting in the Pastor leaving the church due to stress and strain, or causing a split in the Church. Our help to Pastors is good insurance for the churches.

We, who are the staff and Mentors of our e-Mentoring organization, have covenanted together to be spiritual servants for the Lord, and to use our training and experience to help Pastors, who are on the front, serving the Lord in many ways.

Please join with us in this endeavor. May our Lord Jesus Christ be glorified.
