In
the editorial of a recent issue of Christianity Today (April 2006),
entitled, “Before The Next Sex Scandal” the editor emphasized the need
for Pastoral Mentoring, to not only help those caught in the web of
personal desires, but to help Pastors be able to withstand the many
temptations that would destroy their ministry for the Lord. He noted
that LEADERSHIP magazine reported up to 12 percent of Pastors have
admitted to “inappropriate physical involvement outside marriage”. And,
38 percent said internet pornography tempts them. He then noted that
though only a minority will fall, “the threat is strong enough that our
Churches must prepare for the worst”.
This is one
of the main reasons for our “e-Mentoring Pastors” counseling ministry.
We have organized a group of Godly Pastoral Counselors, who are
available to Pastors and Churches, to provide confidential mentoring, on
a regular basis, to allow Pastors to share their needs with a
non-judgmental professional helper. These experienced counselors will
listen, pray, and provide feedback for the Pastor’s concerns. We
encourage Pastors to participate in our ministry, as well as Church
boards to consider our services for their Pastor. It will help the
Pastor and save the Church from potential problems.
